Amanecer trains additional bilingual professionals

The number of behavioral health professions trained to work with Delaware Latinos continues to increase thanks to support from the Arsht-Cannon Fund.

Amanecer Counseling & Resource Center has been proud to support many Arsht-Cannon Fund scholarship recipients in their career journeys, including Maria Aguilar, LCSW, and Carmen Mendez, MSW, pictured here with Dr. Chris Cannon, Arsht-Cannon Fund Executive Director, at the dedication of Amanecer’s Sister Theresa Elitz Building in September 2021.

Thanks to grants from the Arsht-Cannon Fund, Amanecer has provided graduate internships, professional development and supervised employment for bilingual clinicians who continue to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed care to Latinos throughout the state.  This has built the foundation of Amanecer’s Workforce Development Program, which also received support from the Longwood Foundation in December.

Amanecer strives to build access to quality behavioral health services for Delaware’s Latino population by supporting the education and training of bilingual clinical behavioral health graduate students.
