La Esperanza and La Colectiva de Delaware invite you to join us for an in-person panel discussion on immigration issues in our state November 17 from 3:30-5:30 p.m at Milton Library, 121 Union St, Milton, DE 19968. Stay after the panel discussion for a happy hour conversations at Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant.
In the wake of the recent threat of migrants being transported from Texas and Florida to Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown, we must unite to discuss the reality of immigration today in our state. We’ve invited representatives of the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and resettlement and migrant/immigrant-serving organizations and agencies to participate share information with our network.
Bryant Garcia, La Esperanza Associate Director and DOJ accredited immigration representative, shares “anyone who wants to help migrants and immigrants needs to understand the U.S. immigration system and its realities to better address the issues immigrants face. La Esperanza aims to inform those who are interested in supporting immigrants and foment public conversation on the nature of U.S. immigration. We recommend anyone who desires to support immigrants to participate in this timely conversation.”
Immigration encompasses a complex web of processes, actions and policies that we can’t begin to cover in one panel. However, we hope to start a conversation that builds understanding and creates opportunities to meet the needs of people as they go through the immigration process and integrate into our communities in Delaware.
