As we enter 2024 and consider what’s ahead, we encourage you to share your immigration stories leading up to La Esperanza’s annual celebration recognizing new citizens on March 15th at DTCC Georgetown.

Submit your story here.

My family has its roots in Irish families emigrating to the U.S. who were able to build on the successes of each generation here, finding a home and opportunity for their families. The decision to leave the place where you were born can be harrowing, and in many cases, was not a decision at all for those oppressed by slavery or trafficking.

We have a dream about democracy and opportunity in the United States that requires careful attention and commitment, responsibility, inclusion, and justice. That dream continues to draw families to Delaware, where we build and sustain our communities and local economies together. This election year, it is more important than ever to join the conversation and share a collective vision for our just and humane democracy.
