We spoke to Balbina Garcia Cordova who arrived in Delaware from Veracruz, Mexico, and is now the proud owner of a cleaning services company.
How did you get started with your business?: I started cleaning houses when someone asked me if I knew anyone who cleaned. I then realized that it was like therapy for me. I love going into a home and seeing its potential and possibility.
What services or programs have been most helpful to you for business growth?: For me, it was more advice. When I got a business license, they told me to open a separate business bank account to maintain better control of income and expenses. This makes it easier to do taxes correctly.
What advice do you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps? Be respectful of people’s homes. Be thankful that you have the opportunity to work with them and treat their place with care.
