As we inch closer to the 2024 general election in the United States, it’s important that every American citizen engages in his or her civic duty and casts a vote in November. We have no more important right in America than the right to participate in the democratic process.
As Latinos, this is our biennial chance to make our voices heard, to speak with a loud and clear voice, and to emphasize the issues important to our community and to our country.
Sadly, Latinos had the lowest voter registration percentage as a group in 2020. But we’re doing all we can to change those figures before the election of 2024, at least here in Delaware.
That’s why we’re holding a special voter registration event at the La Esperanza Community Center in Georgetown on Tuesday, September 17. We’ll have representatives at the center to help you complete the necessary forms and ensure you have a voice on the first Tuesday in November, not just this year but every year.
It’s projected that Latinos will account for nearly 15 percent of all eligible American voters in 2024. Those are powerful numbers, and it’s a big reason why the two major political parties are beginning to court Latinos more and more during national election cycles.
But to continue this rise in political clout, we must all do our part on November 5. And that begins with registering to vote in time for this year’s election.
If you have questions, don’t forget to bring those along with you next month. We’ll have bilingual representatives on hand who can address your needs and guide you on the path to becoming a registered voter in the State of Delaware.
Won’t you join us on Tuesday, September 17, in Georgetown? Help us ensure you and your loved ones have a voice in this year’s election.
See you soon!
